ProjectsSince 2001, AOFG India has been promoting a number of activities and projects. The current projects are: 1. Training of Agriculture Graduates in Organic Farming.The project started in Manipur in association with Naturland Germany India Office; Gurgaon has 15 Agriculture Graduates working with 15 NGOs from Manipur being trained in documenting the traditional knowledge, development of local standards, internal control system, advisory to farmers, field inspection on organic farming, certification procedures, marketing and local market development. The project will gradually cover all the North Eastern States. 2. Organic Agriculture in Rural Development (OARD).30 NGOs are involved in the promotion of organic agriculture in rural development. 2 villages have been adopted by each NGO. Training and support services are provided by AOFG-India. The main goal of the project is to reach the message of organic agriculture in rural development, ecological farming, natural resource management, biodiversity conservation and protection of environment. 3. UNCCD-NAP Project.AOFG India and its 30 Networked NGOs are involved in the promotion of National Action Program to Combat Desertification under UNCCD. 4. AOFG India Project on “Fairtrade and Organic Farming in India”.This is an ambitious project of the farmer associations, farmer producer companies providing quality extension through Farmer Field Schools, value addition, supply chain and marketing. The commodity focus are : Coffee, spices, cotton and fruits. The project is funded by SHGW, AC Laren, The Netherlands. The project started during 2006 and the first Phase is ending by 2008. To facilitate the marketing of farmers produces, AOFG has set up a farmer dedicated Marketing Company namely Zameen Organic Pvt. Ltd. The project operations are carried out in Kerala focusing Western Ghats, Adilabad and Amaravaty of the Deccan Plateau, mountain slope farming areas of the Himalayas and the shifting cultivation areas of eastern Himalayas. 16,000 small and marginal farmers are involved in the project implementation, extension activities, crop production, value addition and marketing. The procurement and supply chain is conducted without the middleman. 5. National seminar.AOFG India is organizing a National seminar of Corporate Social Responsibility and Public Private Partnership at New Delhi on the 23rd February 2008 in association with Rotary International PIRG. Planning Commission, Government of India has sponsored this seminar. 100 Participants from business houses, Industry, Government, NGOs are participating in this event. |
